This unique workshop will take place in Tamara’s dye garden in Morden, MB. We will explore the process of naturally dyeing textiles, harvesting dyes directly from the plants.

We’ll start with a tour around the garden to learn about various dye plants, the colours they produce and how to grow them. We will then move to a discussion on proper fibre preparation and mordanting techniques, steps to making a dye bath and color modification. Over the course of the afternoon we will dye a variety of samples using different fibres. You will go home with naturally dyed fibre samples and tons of information that you can apply to your own projects.

This is an outdoor workshop so please dress accordingly. Sunscreen and/ or a hat are recommended. Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dye on. In case of rain we will move inside.
